Not for Sale...

Dennis: I was born in California arriving in Pearl Harbor in time for the start of WWII with the Japanese attack on December 7, 1941. Growing up in the early 1950’s Southern California was a time and place that will never be lived again. We had cars, girls, beaches, freeways and the music that has become legion. I joined the Navy at seventeen and spent twenty years steaming the earth’s seas. I loved the navy but did not much like my job. I was a two year active duty reservist and after boot camp in San Diego I was shipped to Brooklyn, NY for duty aboard an aircraft carrier in the navy yards. Months passed and I was assigned to paint the office of navy weathermen who would board soon. The chief came aboard and had me assigned permanently. At the end of my two years I was extended a year and took the test for a rating. The ship visited over a dozen countries. I had duty in six states and countries. I rode 2 carriers, 1 destroyer and 1 landing ship dock. After retiring from the navy I spent the next twenty plus years aboard my personal sailboat. I have lived or visited over sixty countries returning to the US in 2005 and am married to a Filipina who is my best friend.
